jacobs rockette

i am currently sitting on a chair in gate 53 of newark liberty international airport being reminded to keep my baggage with me at all times and watching the sun rise lazily into a cloudless blood orange sky. you guessed it - it's time to go home. having just checked my watch take off is in exactly one hour, providing we set off on time.

this trip has been wonderful and i've bought so many lovely things. my main aim of this trip was to come away with a beautiful pair of decent sized heels and new york certainly did not disappoint with the selection! the first pair i truly madly deeply fell in love with were a pair from steve madden, but as my feet are so small they didn't make them in my size and the next size up were sold out in every branch we went to = major disappointment. but, then we went to bloomingdales and i spied the most beautiful marc by marc jacobs heels i think i've ever seen in my life. i tried them on and they fitted amazingly - it was evidently meant to be! i am a very very lucky girl.

another highlight of the trip was last night. again, i was lucky enough to be given tickets to the radio city 'christmas spectacular' show and it was absolutely wonderful. the show consisted of twelve main scenes, my favourite was the penultimate which was a nativity scene. it lived up to its name and was truly spectacular - even the three wise men had beautifully dressed up camels. wow is a word that does not give justice.

anyway, i've jut been told that boarding will begin in five minutes, so i'd best be off.

i would have liked to tell you the name of the aircraft i'm about to get on, but the boarding tunnel thing is in the way.

65 west 54th street

i made it to new york at last and judging by the surrounding weather conditions i can completely understand why the flight last night was delayed for so long. the snow is so thick here, i've never seen anything like it! in places it's 18 inches deep and even in the city it comes up way past the middle of my shins.

i completely love it here. the people, the places to go, the things to see, the atmosphere, even the smell is wonderful. following writing this i plan on getting ready and then going for a lovely long wander through snowy, slushy-puppy new york before going to eat at this wicked italian bar place which does some of the best chicken i've ever had - i always get the same thing.

fact # 54
i saw a pug dog today wearing red dog sized wellington boots - only in new york!

vs017

i find it highly ironic that my last post regarding my flight to new york was titled "on time". today mum and i were really happy that there was no more snow and that we were able to get to heathrow quickly and easily. as we had checked in with no problems online the night before we were all smiles as we made our way to the virgin bag drop. it is here that we were told that our flight had been delayed for 12 hours.

fact # 53
i should have taken off eleven minutes ago

on time

despite the snow settling, thankfully the roads aren't so bad and flights are still going out of heathrow... sort of. so it looks as though new york is still on (just!) however, as much as the snow is clearing up here, heavy snow is forecast for saturday and sunday evening in new york - it's gonna be an experience to say the least!

this was supposed to be uploaded a couple of hours, but i was doing a million and one other things simultaneously and ended up shutting my browser and completely forgetting about it. well done kitty.

schnee

as predicted this week has been wonderful. monday evening brought the old year thirteen's prize-giving. the whole process was lengthy and at times parts of it were unnecessary yet the walk home from school was definitely worth sitting on those awful uncomfortable maroon chairs my school is so fond of. the walk home was great, it was dark, i was freezing cold but i was incredibly happy trudging up a hill only to trudge down another in my boots plugged into my ipod.

tuesday brought another lovely evening in the treehouse. never does the atmosphere, food and general niceness of everyone there fail to impress me. it was particularly lovely this time around with the inclusion of a massive christmas tree and more fairy lights and candles than usual. lily and lorraine were as gorgeous as ever.

wednesday brought the 'exciting' snow. i hate snow, these are just a few reasons why:
it messes up peoples plans,
it messes up the buses and trains,
it makes the majority of people revert to the mindset of a five year old,
it appears a good idea at the time, but then you end up cold, wet and grumpy with stinging hands.

the walk home from school on this day was not so fun due to the snow fall and the slipperyness that is caused, yet i survived to tell the tale and was lucky enough to have yet another lovely evening, this time with daniel at his house. despite not watching the end of ice age 3, what i saw of it convinced me that in her previous life alex was definitely the dinosaur tooth wielding maniac weasel whose name escapes me at present.

the account of this week leads me to today. there is an 80% chance of snowfall tomorrow and because of this my school decided to tell us before we had even left that school tomorrow was cancelled. despite not being able to see simpy about my english this is a blessing in disguise that presents me with the fantastic opportunity of a lie in and a day that for once does not compromise of biology, chemistry, english and geography.

until the next time.

jamie just told me "its snowing, PROPERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". having looked out of my window i am sad to confirm that this fact is unfortunately true - and it's settling too.

perplexed state of mind

having been initially somewhat sceptical about the 'mouth to mouth' series on bbc3 since thursday i have watched four out of the six episodes and surprisingly, they are very good and are really going to help with my piece for a listening audience in english.

i want this coming week to simultaneously fly by and drag... i want it to fly by as new york begins on saturday, but to drag as i've got so many lovely things planned and i'm going to miss a tonne of people a hell of a lot when i go stateside. if only you could be in two places at once.

fact # 50
new york, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can’t do, now you're in new york. these streets will make you feel brand new, the lights will inspire you, let's hear it for new york.

strawberry blonde

having just flicked my eyes briefly over my last post, i am pleased to inform you that i've generally feeling much better this week! on sunday i went to the jingle bell ball at the o2, i didn't really go for the musical content but to have a laugh with alex and dan, and i have to admit that flo rida was incredible! what a contrast, the cribs on thursday and then all these strange capital artists on sunday. the phrase out-of-place springs to mind, but saying this i had a great time.

yesterday brought an impromptu curry night with dan, it was brilliant. i forgot how much i enjoy doing this with her, although i have to say she really has to up her game on wii sports resort...

i just got home from stones and now i'm as blonde as i can go in one hit, there's still red in it but with the heavy concentration of blonde i am now an interesting shade of strawberry blonde. i love it, despite loving my red hair i've decided i prefer lighter colours, i think they suit my face better however i definitely wouldn't rule out dark changes for the future.

a long post today, anyway i have to go now

until the next time

manic depression and hyper sexuality

i still can't seem to get my head around how quickly time is flying by, one minute it is monday and the next it is friday. one o clock until half three today was perfect, birdsong and then the dark room. unfortunately following that i had to go to croydon (which i hate doing at that time of day, especially at this time of year!).

the main purpose of todays entry is to discuss last evening with you. last night brought the cribs and in my opinion they were truly spectacular. they had a really lovely mix of old and new songs and they played for ages, it was one of those gigs with a great atmosphere and one that i won't forget in a while. it was really lovely to see everyone - the journey home from brixton by myself however wasn't too fun, especially as i'd been dancing on two sprained ankles all night but it was the lesser of two evils. my feet are black from an accumulation of different bruises. tasty. yet despite this, a top night. if my life flashed before my eyes and i was with these guys, i definitely would not mind. -head wobble-

the city that never sleeps

i cannot believe it is the first of december today and that i've nearly had this blog for three months, time has sped up so much it's been hard to measure recently. it's as if my life is cascading out of a fully open tapped burette and no one knows how to slow it down... i don't know where the days are going or whether i'm coming or going. despite this i've been happier within myself this past week and i haven't had as much trouble sleeping - i hope it stays like this for a while longer than a solitary week suspended in my schedule of sleeplessness.

the first of december means eighteen days until new york and twenty four days until christmas. yippee! isn't it strange that new york is the city that never sleeps, and i am the girl.

fact #46
i kept thinking that the ba strike was going to cause loads of problems for this trip... until i realised that i'm flying with virgin and not with ba at all!
