knife edge

yesterday making the pear and apple crumble i cut my thumb open with a serated knife. normally i'm not too bad with things like this but the fact it was serated meant it sort of ripped my skin rather than make a nice clean cut... not so nice. this morning i thought it had pretty much sewn itself back together but trying to get some toothpaste out of the tube taught me different, blood spurting in the bathroom to a kill bill level. at the end of the day the crumble was worth it, i had left overs for breakfast. i reckon its always nicer once its had the chance to sit around and get all gloopy and cold. mmmmm.

fact # 18

it would appear i am still a sucker for paramore. i'm about half way through brand new eyes at the moment and i'm really liking it.

big girls don't cry

i'm sitting in front of the fire in the lounge watching the second round of boot camp x factor at the moment - boo. a dog in the beeches woke me up today because my window was open, he kept barking and barking so i decided it was someone probably telling me to haul myself out of bed.

the advert for go compare came onto the tele, right at the end where the stupid guy with the moustache is in the background, he does a little head shake thing that really reminds me of michael mcintyre...

mum is going to york tomorrow, i don't like it when she goes away cos dad is out so much i'm normally very much alone at home.

carbohydrate cravings

i've decided that this entry is going to have a SEMANTIC FIELD (yes english revision) of food to reflect my hunger........ because.......

it turns out my mum doesn't want to go out for thai
-cries uncontrollably-

fact # 16
i'm one of the few people that doesn't like the sandwich selection at sainsbury's. prawn mayo? tuna and sweetcorn?
ALL I WANT IS A PLAIN HAM OR CHEESE SANDWICH GODDAMNIT!
is that honestly too much to ask for?!

miranda

the past two days have been great. i didn't get in from lily's until really late last night (and on a school night as well - tut tut!) having had chinese (i seem to have had this a lot recently... strange, i'm normally a taste of bengal kinda girl....) and today is a friday which is always a good thing.

now for a nerdy bit:
in english today we started to analyse the collector by john fowles properly. i didn't realise i could feel this way about a book - the way that it's written and the way that fowles has crafted the characters is truly amazing - even the name of the miranda has been thought about (it means she who must be admired / out to be wondered at - how appropriate!) this book made me stay up til three in the morning to finish and i am SO glad that it's one of our set texts. if you haven't read the collector i highly recommend it, it's published by vintage.

photography this afternoon was great. i got duncans 35mm olympus to work which made me super happy. i just got it out my bag to tell you some interesting things about it and you'll never guess what it has written on it!!! underneath the main lens is the word "miranda" - WHAT A COINCIDENCE - in the same day AND blog entry too. wow. it's at times like these i truly feel as though our lives are already mapped out for us from birth, but i'm not gonna get all philosophical on you now.

mum is at the hairdressers atm and i've taken full advantage of wifi in the breakfast room and the loud kitchen stereo. we've only just got lungs by florence and west ryder pauper lunatic asylum despite me being a florence fan since dog days and kasabian follower ever since empire but even more so since the geniosity that is underdog and clubfoot.

i'm really glad i've started this blog. i never expected this to become a "great source of comfort" as anne frank hoped hers to be, but it has. hopefully i'll be going out for thai green curry later (my favourite food, aside from a treehouse steak)

until next time.

Tuesday, 22 September 2009

do or do not, there is no try.

i'm so tired and i've got work to do. i just finished my english and i've still got geography and chemistry calculations to do, as well as redraft my resolution for the model united nations conference. in all honesty i could do with a big zzzZzZZz. todays been non stop!

i'm reading anne frank at the moment i'm nearly half way through, i'm at the point where she's describes random times during the day, i think the most recent one she did was of dinner time. so perhaps i'll give a full blown description of my day.

6:57 woken up far too early. stagger into shower and remain under the water long enough to feel awak enough to tackle my hair before ramming a two slices of (burnt -sigh-) jammy toast down my throat.

8:20 registration and off to prefect my yr 11 form... despite signing up to prefect a junior school one, oh well. that went by pretty quick, apparently they had their morrisby testing today. next up was catching up reading address unknown.

9:05 english, was actually pretty decent today and overall was a pretty uneventful lesson. saw dorgan outside the staff room to arrange to see her about some super hard calculations i couldnt do on yesterdays homework before.......

10:30 private study. wow. writing a resolution for unmn concerning the netherlands feelings regarding the ecology and environment is so much harder than it sounds. a whole hour and ten minutes sifting through pages like fact book on google. nice one.

11:45 geography in room 50, more about newcastle upon tyne and the different wards. nicole said she was going to get a train to newcastle so she could do the best homework ever - made me smile.

writing this has made me realise what a boring day i've had! and whoevers reading this is probably thinking... when the hell is this going to stop?! so i'm going to.... NOW.

bet you didn't see that one coming eh?!
i'm dying my hair this colour tonight:

the cusp of vessel 18

i just got in from having lunch at priory farm. i had a slice of turkey and ham pie which was the size of a quarter of a bowling ball. feeling pretty hefty atm if i say so myself. yet another one of my friends is turning 17 tomorrow (happy birthday cave) shame you don't live as near to me as danni does - that way i'd have two lift givers! i can't wait to have a car, i am definitely going to abuse the horn on it. mums car makes the most funny noise! haha

i'm in one of those don't know what to do moods, torn between having a bath or having a shower... decisions decsions. i'll probably opt for shower, being more eco friendly like. my internet connection is also rapidly dying and i have to do some typing for dad. fun.

on a lighter note i got tickets to see white lies = major result. i officially can't wait until november: white lies, biffy and arctics all in one month. wow.

fact # 12
my favourite white lies track at the moment is fifty on our foreheads.

trophy allergies

i woke up pretty late today and then did all the normal stuff like showering, eating, tidying. i'm seeing alex again tonight, i'm feeling lots of chinese, lot of tele and lots of talking.

dad decided to cut the grass about half an hour ago without telling me so i didn't get a chance to ram my hayfever tablets down my neck fast enough. cut grass + sunshine = unhappy kitty.

short and sweet today, i've got to "explore how fay weldon makes trophy wife a successful short story" before alex gets here so i'd better get cracking.

mac and cheese

my dad has done the most extraordinary thing and gone and shaved his eyebrows off... he looks so strange i often find myself just sitting and staring at the shadow of tiny bristles growing back. he looks like an alien. the funny thing is he has to go to a posh masonic dinner on saturday with mum and sadly it's not fancy dress so he has no excuse for it. when mum asked whatever posessed him to do such a bizzare thing he just kind of stared at her looking very confused, as if he didn't quite know himself.

i'm listening to the resistance at the moment on spotify. i love the album artwork (outside and inside) and so far i'm really liking the music so i think i'm going to borrow mums cd copy and load it onto my ipod. a lot of the time my mum is cooler than me.

mu mum just called my phone to tell me food is on the table opposed to calling me.
oh god. we're turning into one of those american families.

fact # 10
i love listening to london calling really really loud when i'm walking. it makes me go superfast.

73

i've had a top weekend. yesterday i met up with alex during the day which was great as i haven't seen her for so long and we went to see dorian grey before getting the bus to dans house. i acutally really enjoyed the film, apparently it was given rubbish reviews though?

once we got to dans we all got ready before getting the train to london and having a generally awesome time, despite the trampy old man on the bus on the way back to vic who swore at us a lot. he was so mean! if i hadn't been shit scared i would have told him to wash his mouth out, and in reply to his comment about us being foreign (wtf) turn to him and said, love, i'm from croydon.
eugh. nasty man.

we got to bed around a reasonable two o clock, yet my sleeping was not a great success as i had to share a mattress with alex - i forgot how much she spasms and thrashes in her sleep! woah.

i got home around lunchtime and havign been working solidly on my hench english homework every since - i've only just finished the essays! the sheer volume of work we're getting is already at crazy levels and it's going to get worse... oh dear.

heels

i remember coming on to here to talk about a specific something but now that i'm here i can't remember what on earth it was - don't you hate it when stuff like that happens?

this week has lasted far too long, i can't wait for the weekend. i'm going up to london saturday evening with danni and others for her birthday, i haven't seen her since results day... which was ages ago! she's demanding that we wear heels so i've just spent pretty much the last hour empting the contents of my wardrobe over the carpet only to spend another twenty minutes hanging it all back up again.

fact # 8
i'm in love with white lies even more than usual, i didn't think this was possible.

hey there, buckaroo

today was better than yesterday, i guess i wasn't in the type of writing mood... the same kind of feeling you get when you know you really ought to read something but can't summin the will power or the brain energy to do so.

i've been back to school, what, four whole days and strongly feel as though i'm in need of another holiday! despite saying that, so far, on the whole i've really been enjoying my lessons.

this summer i went on the most amazing holiday to america, mum reckons we did well over 3000 miles on the road. out of all the places we went to phoenix and antelope canyon in arizona, bryce canyon in utah and yosemite in california were probably just some of my favourite places - the funny thing is that all the places that i went to keep cropping up at school. for example, in biology we were watching a video on biodiversity and it just happen to focus on the desert that we drove though and the cacti that were everywhere around us where we stayed... in geography there's a whole section on bryce canyon!

it was a life changing holiday, never did i think i would get the opportunity to sing songs about wagons, rattlesnakes, cacti and "buckaroos" with cowboys into the night during a dry electrical storm in the middle of a desert with a cowboy... awesome.

i'm thinking a bit of tele and an early night tonight, i'm shattered.

dog days

it looks as though its about to start raining outside - the kind of spitting pathetic annoying rain that doesn't really try hard enough... the worst kind of weather. if it's going to rain, at least rain properly with chubby globules instead of to skinny drips. it would seem as though autumn has finally arrived, summer seemed to go on and rush by at the same time. autumn and spring are my favourite seasons.

london was packed today and surprisingly warm as well. why do starbucks make their pepeprmint tea so hot?! we managed to get a seat on the bus with all our bags following a flying trip to yo sushi! by the skin of our teeth. i've got a stonking headache, it's probably because i haven't drunk enough today (as usual) but i'm going to blame the baby who cried relentlessly on the 73 back to victoria. i didn't mind too much about the noise though. it's not noisy now, infact all i can hear is the laptop and the budgie. he does this awesome head banging thing and it always makes me laugh, he is so stupid but lovely, despite how much i complain about him.

fact #4
i wish i had a black cat with a red collar.

american lemon

it would appear that all of a sudden, as of this morning sophie and i are running the junior debating club... strange that i have no problem standing up in front of hundreds of people in competitions ranting on about the same tired, repeated topics (euthanasia, capital punishment) or drumming into innocent year sevens minds that they should pick junior debating above all other clubs on a monday lunchtime and yet simultaneously, often find myself in the position of an awkward lemon...

i'm going away for the five days before christmas to new york, it will be something ridiculous like my eleventh time there and it will be bloody freezing but i am so looking forward to it. one time i went in february and it reached -20. that was the trip i saw the foo fighters at madison square... on the walk back to the hotel the empire state was lit up in red, white and blue, it was presidents day and an excellent night at that too. i love it in new york so much - the people, the places, the atmosphere, even the halal food station on the corner of 56th and 6.

speaking of food, i think i'll go and get some more icecream.

simultaneously and specifically are two of my favourite words.

moles and magic trees

today was the first day back at school and despite being convinced i looked like a power hungry lesbian in my suit for the entire day, it seemed to go okay, despite missing alex and danni in particular a hell of a lot. it's a big change and i guess i'm just going to get used to it. today i realised just how relieved i am that i'm no longer doing history and instead doing english. roll on two years of english lang lit, geography, biology and chemistry.

i have been given a chemistry textbook especially for calculations.
omg.

on a lighter note it's my friends 17th birthday today, i can't believe it! i hope she doesn't kill any pedestrians and therefore qualify to give me lifts ;) i was going to put a magic tree in her card but i thought she would like a twenty pound note better...

fact #2
